-
You will find the Homework and Grading Policies for my four courses below. The Honors Precalculus/Precalculus is first and the AP Calculus/Calculus follows second.

GRADING POLICY:
The marking period grade will be calculated by test, quiz, notebook and homework grades. Tests will be announced several days in advance and will cover an entire chapter. Quizzes may or may not be announced. Usually, they are announced one or two day(s) in advance. Quizzes cover one or more sections of work. Notebooks will be graded quarterly. If you do not have a sufficient notebook to turn in at the end of each quarter, you will lose three average points from the quarter grade. When a test or quiz is missed, the student will make it up within the number of days that were missed. This may be waived if extenuating circumstances arise. Tests and quizzes MUST be taken in pencil.
Example: Test 93 Possible 100 50%
Quiz 83 Points 100 30%
HW 34 36 17%
Quiz 49 50 30%
Quiz 20 20 30%
Test 90 100 50%
HW 29 30 17%
NB 20 20 3%
Grade: 92%
HOMEWORK POLICY:
Homework will be assigned three to five times per week. Homework assignments will vary in length, and class time will be given to begin assignments whenever possible. If a student fails to make a satisfactory attempt to do an assignment, he/she will receive a zero for the assignment and must make up the assignment. If a class is missed due to an activity (band, chorus, sports, etc.), class work and assignments must be made up and turned in. The homework for the present day and the missed day will be checked on the day of the missed class (if the student is in school for ANY portion of the day) or the next day (if the student is NOT in school for ANY portion of the day). Homework will be checked at the beginning of the class period and MUST be completed in pencil.
The following system will be used when checking homework:
6 – Completed satisfactorily (Teacher’s opinion is final).
5 – Completed (Missed a problem).
4 – Completed (sloppy work; did not follow directions; missed a few problems).
3 – Greater than half of assignment completed.
2 – Turned in late, but complete.
0 – Less than half of assignment completed.
The homework points will be added at mid-quarter and at the end of the quarter.
General Classroom Rules:
Do not bring food, drinks or gum to the classroom. Detention will be given to those students who chew gum or eat/drink in class (medical situations that I am aware of are the exception). Students must complete homework, quizzes, and tests in pencil. Homework, quizzes, and tests completed in pen or anything other than pencil will not be graded and will count as a zero. Student absences that are unlawful or unexcused will result in student work for that day to be a zero; this includes homework, quizzes or tests for that day. Refrain from speaking while I or another student is speaking. Please raise your hand to speak. Sharpen pencils and throw away trash before class begins. Remain seated during class. Ask to use the lavatory or go to the nurse in case of an emergency only. Treat everyone in the room with respect. Do not use your cell phone for any reason or you will get a detention. Keep all textbooks covered or a loss of points will result. Finally, bring your agenda to class each day or detention will result.
**If there are any questions regarding either policy, please do not hesitate to ask.
